Game 1: Maples Can’t Hold Up Against Farmington

The Maples couldn’t keep up with Farmington and fell 7-1 on Monday. Farmington scored four runs in the sixth inning. Max Schumaker took the loss for the Maples. He allowed four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three. The Maples racked up nine hits in the game but careless base running cost the Maples’ in several innings when the score was closer. Alex Oancea, Lucas Simmons, and Schumaker all managed multiple hits for the Maples.

Game 2: Early Lead For Farmington Seals Fate For Maples

Base running gaffes were the order of the day in Game 2 as well. The Maples watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-3 loss to Farmington. Scott Simon took the loss for the Maples, he allowed nine hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out four. Jack Sheldon surrendered zero runs on zero hits over one and two-thirds innings.

Game 1: Early Lead for Grand Ledge Seals Fate for Maples
The Maples fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-0 loss to Grand Ledge on Saturday. Grand Ledge took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The Maples struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Grand Ledge, giving up six runs. Justin Miller took the loss for the Maples. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out seven. Scott Simon, Zach Ziegler, and Alex Oancea each collected one hit.

Game 2: Maples Claim Victory Over Beal City, 7-1
The Maples won big over Beal City 7-1 on Saturday. The Maples got things moving in the first inning. Zach Ziegler drove in one when he singled.
The Maples put up three runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by the Maples was led by Max Schumaker, Ziegler, and Gray Kinnie, all driving in runs in the inning. Scotty Clippert earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound . He surrendered one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out three.
The Maples scattered eight hits in the game. Ziegler and Kinnie all had multiple hits. The Maples didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The JV Maples took the rubber game of its 3 game set against the W Bloomfield Lakers @ W Bloomfield High School on Wednesday 4-3 and improved their season record to 10-3.

Freshman Jimmy Love earned the complete game victory for the Maples whose victory was made possible by a game winning double by Sophomore Brad Drake in the top of the 7th inning.

The Maples had trouble keeping up with W. Bloomfield in a 9-3 loss on Wednesday. In the first inning, the Maples got their offense started.
W. Bloomfield pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth 2 errors accounted for W. Bloomfield pushing 3 more runs across the plate. Scott Simon took the loss for the Maples. He went four innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out three. Lucas Simmons went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Maples in hits.
