Max Schumaker shut down Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Maples to a 13-0 victory on Thursday. The Maples secured the victory thanks to sending 15 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs in the second inning. Alex Maxwell, Nick Contis, Johnny Vecchio, Lucas Simmons, Schumaker, and Scott Simon all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Schumaker earned the victory allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out five and walking one. The Maples tallied 12 hits. Alex Oancea, Justin Miller, Zach Ziegler, and Simmons all had multiple hits for Seaholm Maples Varsity. The Maples played clean defensively and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Oancea had five chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Maples defeated Cranbrook 9-4 on Tuesday. Nick King led the Maples to victory on the mound. He went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. Justin Miller threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. The Maples collected 13 hits. Alex Oancea, Miller, Max Schumaker, Alex Maxwell, and Lucas Simmons each collected multiple hits with Schumaker, Miller, and Oancea leading the way with three hits each.

The Maples next play on Thursday, as they head to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s HS for 4:30 PM non-conference game.

Maples Fall to Brother Rice

The Maples fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-3 loss to Brother Rice on Monday. The Maples struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Brother Rice, giving up ten runs. Jack Sheldon took the loss for the Maples, he surrendered seven runs on eight hits over three and a third innings, striking out three. The Maples saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Max Schumaker and Zach Ziegler all collected multiple hits; Schumaker went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Maples in hits.

The Maples couldn’t keep up with Farmington and fell 13-4 on Thursday. Farmington got things started in the second inning by scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Maples tied things up at two when Alex Maxwell doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Farmington took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. Farmington scored five runs in the fifth inning. Justin Miller took the loss for the Maples; he lasted four innings, allowing 13 hits and ten runs while striking out three. Gray Kinnie led the Mapleswith two hits in three at bats.
