Maples Split DH with Clarkston Wolves Tuesday

The Maples fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-3 loss to Clarkston on Tuesday. Max Schumaker took the loss, he surrendered four runs on six hits over six innings, striking out two. Scott Simon went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Maples in hits.

In the second game, the Maples prevailed 2-1 and its pitchers allowed just six hits to Clarkston. The Maples got things started in the first inning when Alex Oancea doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Jack Sheldon earned the victory; he lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven. Johnny Vecchio threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Vecchio recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Max Schumaker had three hits in three at bats. The Maples were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
