Seaholm Maples Varsity defeated Ferndale 15-3 on Friday thanks to eight runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Ben Bierman, Ben Slazinski, Jack Hulgrave, and Jim Love, a groundout by #66, and a double by Grant Welch.

Ferndale opened up scoring in the first inning, when #20 singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Seaholm Maples Varsity evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Ferndale’s #10’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Seaholm Maples Varsity.

Seaholm Maples Varsity pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Bierman singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Slazinski singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Hulgrave singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Love singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Welch doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and #66 grounded out, scoring one run.

Welch pitched Seaholm Maples Varsity to victory. The righty surrendered one run on four hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Drew Bell threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bell recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Seaholm Maples Varsity.

Ferndale’s #10 led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Ferndale. The hurler allowed nine hits and nine runs over two innings, striking out two and walking zero. #4 and #17 entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Seaholm Maples Varsity had ten hits in the game. Love and Sam Schumaker all collected multiple hits for Seaholm Maples Varsity. Schumaker and Love each managed two hits to lead Seaholm Maples Varsity.

Ferndale racked up six hits in the game. #13 and #20 all managed multiple hits for Ferndale.
