The Seaholm Baseball community is very fortunate to have this gentleman as part of our program. You will often see him at Maples Stadium driving his golf cart with a large container of water sitting by his side.

This man’s name is Bill Watson. Bill is the Head Trainer and Medical First Responder for the Seaholm Athletic Department. Watson reports directly to Aaron Frank, Seaholm’s Athletic Director.

Bill grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Seaholm in 1978. He ran track and played basketball for the Maples. Following his graduation, Bill attended Western Michigan University, majoring in Physical Education. Upon graduation from WMU in 1983, Bill began his career at Seaholm as the Head Trainer.

Now in his 38th year at Seaholm as the top Trainer, “Year round training is really the biggest difference I see in today’s athlete at Seaholm, including students focusing on only one sport and not playing 2-3 sports.”

Watson cites that the one-sport athlete tends to experience more injuries as the same muscles are used over and over. “Nowadays, kids are too specialized and I would like to see athletes involved in more than one sport.”

The Seaholm Baseball players are fortunate to have such a dedicated, skilled, and experienced trainer on Seaholm’s staff to help the players manage their injuries. Watson is an outstanding resource. Don’t hesitate in reaching out to Bill to manage existing injuries, nurse a sore arm, or developing a program to prevent injuries in the future.
