Seaholm Maples Varsity Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over North Farmington

Seaholm Maples Varsity snatched the lead late in the game in an 8-4 victory over North Farmington on Monday. The game was tied at one with Seaholm batting in the bottom of the fifth when Sam Schumaker singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

In the first inning, Seaholm got their offense started when Jim Love’s sac fly scored one run for Seaholm Maples Varsity.

North Farmington knotted the game up at one in the top of the fourth inning. #28 singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Love earned the win for Seaholm. The pitcher lasted five and a third innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out 11. Grant Welch threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Welch recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Seaholm.

Player #19 took the loss for North Farmington. The bulldog allowed nine hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out four and walking one.

Seaholm 11 hits in the game. Love and Grant Wanecek each collected multiple hits for Seaholm Maples Varsity. Wanecek and Love each collected two hits to lead Seaholm. Seaholm didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nicholas Jen had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
